Comfort Zone Equals Done?

So yesterday I saw this quote on social media.

Your comfort zone is not a good benchmark

It made me think. It made me think a lot.

If your comfort zone is not a good benchmark, then some new questions arise. What is a good benchmark? And what are we actually measuring? Since it is called the Comfort Zone I can just assume that we are measuring comfort. A good benchmark of comfort is at any time and to any person, relative. A freediver and an adult that never learned how to swim might have different polarities about what the comfort zone is.

So getting out of it is actually giving me more comfort? It seems like a simple contradiction.

As Mark Manson wrote in his The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life

The desire for more positive experience is itself a negative experience. And, paradoxically, the acceptance of one’s negative experience is itself a positive experience.

So I think it is important to not compare ourselves to others too much, but at the same time I think it is important to be inspired by other people; natural leaders, idols, friends, and family.

When you identify that you are in a comfort zone, it is time to get out of it.

So be sure to continuously ask yourself if you are in your own comfort zone. And if you are, remember this.

Reach out and find a better grup outside.
